The Multichopper — is a grinder with a central perforated disc and an effective blade cutter. It is used to grind solids in liquid media.

The Multichopper wins people over with the finesse and precision of its engineering. The contact pressure of the blade mounted on the axis is adjusted by a special external automatic contact-pressure unit. The blade presses against the perforated disc, which can be used on both sides.

The flow direction of the processed medium is reversible.

There are two versions: Multichopper plus and Multichopper pure. The Multichopper plus has a collection chamber for grit. The Multichopper pure has none and contains no features where sediment could build up.

The range includes various sizes of both types with capacities up to 400 m3/h.

Components of the Multichopper

1 Quick-release cover The quick-release cover gives fast access to the grinder chamber for replacing any part in contact with the medium.
2 Blade holder Various types of blade holder can be used in the rotating cutting unit.
3 Perforated disc Various types of perforated disc are used as the stationary cutting element. The perforated disc is held by several bolts. By turning it over you can use the disc on both sides.
4 Grit collection chamber The grit collection chamber sits beneath the working chamber of the Multichopper plus. The action of the rotating blade and the oblique flow of the medium cause non-grindable particles to settle in the grit chamber. The Multichopper pure is built without a grit collection chamber.
5 One-piece grinder housing The grinder housing is a single part.
6 Drive The drive is connected directly to the grinder, so the assembled unit is very compact. Three different drive versions are available.

Operating principle

Reversible flow direction

The Börger Multichopper is a grinder with a perforated disc fitted with a rotating blade on the inlet side. It is designed to process solids in liquid media. The grinding result depends on the type of perforated disc, the volume of medium processed and the blade speed.

The liquid to be processed is fed to the grinder by a pump or by gravity where there is sufficient inlet pressure. Passing through the Multichopper it flows through the perforated disc. The blade rotating against the perforated disc makes several cutting movements per revolution, which ensures reliable, uninterrupted grinding of solids. The pressure of the rotating blade against the perforated disc is set by an external central adjusting bolt.

Capacity up to 220 m³/h
The flow of the processed medium is reversible.

Advantages of the Börger Multichopper

Its compactness and the ability to reverse the flow of the processed medium make the Multichopper versatile.

A range of versions, various sizes and a broad choice of accessories allow the Multichopper to be adapted individually to your specific duties.

The Multichopper can be equipped with the automatic contact-pressure adjustment unit MCA (Mechanical Cut Adjustment).

Different types of cutting disc combined with different blade speeds provide a wide grinding range.

The Multichopper is as easy to service as all Börger equipment. Thanks to the MIP design, every part of the grinder in contact with the processed medium can be replaced by the operator's own staff without removing it from the pipework.

Equipment series

We offer two series of the Multichopper

The Multichopper plus has a grit collection chamber into which non-grindable particles fall. The Multichopper pure has none and contains no features where sediment could build up.

Control system

Built to your requirements

Our electrical engineering department can build and program a control system exactly to your requirements.

Overview and choice of version

  • A high level of safety thanks to reversing control (time-based or load-based reversal)
  • Reversal parameters are easy to set
  • External operator control via smartphone, WLAN or DSL is possible (remote access by Börger specialists is also available)
  • Collection of operating data
  • Simple entry and administration via touchscreen
  • Modular solutions and control cabinets
  • Integration into an industrial network (Profinet, Profibus and others)
  • Change of rotation direction at every start
  • and more

Application examples

Multichopper Grinder

With or without a grit collection chamber, the Multichopper wins people over with its versatility. Perforated discs, blade speed and flow velocity are selected to suit the solids being ground. Using these parameters you can achieve exactly the degree of grinding you need.

Every Börger Multichopper is individual and is built specifically for a particular duty. The versions presented here will give you an idea of what our engineering can do.
