The Börger mobile pumping unit is a self-propelled or trailer-mounted package with a rotary lobe pump and its own power group on a single frame. It is used wherever powerful pumping has to be deployed quickly without connecting to fixed infrastructure: on oilfields, during spill response, at large municipal sites and in emergency work.

Design of the mobile unit

The unit comprises a Börger rotary positive-displacement pump, a diesel engine or diesel generator, a fuel tank, and a control and monitoring system. All components are mounted on a trailer frame with a tow hitch or on a self-propelled chassis. An acoustic enclosure brings the working noise level down to 70–75 dB, which allows operation within city limits and on night shifts.

Performance data

  • Capacity — up to 1000 m³/h depending on the pump model
  • Discharge pressure — up to 12 bar
  • Self-priming — up to 9 m without pre-filling
  • Pumping of liquids with solids up to 100 mm and fibrous content
  • Fuel autonomy — 12 to 36 hours of continuous operation
  • Control via a touch panel with parameter logging

Areas of application

In the oil and gas industry, mobile units are used to pump oil sludge out of pits, to transfer crude oil during tank repairs and for emergency operations at production sites. Municipal services use them to deal with flooding and to pump sewage and storm water. At industrial sites the unit serves as a standby pump when a fixed line is out of service, keeping the process running.

Advantages of the Börger solution

The main advantage is complete autonomy: the unit needs neither mains power nor lifting equipment. MIP (Maintenance in Place) technology allows worn rotors and seals to be replaced on site. To protect against clogging by large solids the unit can be fitted with a Börger industrial grinder at the inlet.

Selection and configuration

The configuration is chosen according to the nature of the liquid, the required capacity and the autonomy needed. Versions are available with an electric drive from the unit's own generator, with a direct diesel drive and with a hydraulic drive.
