A bayonet end closure provides periodic access to the interior of vessels and apparatus operating under pressure. It is used at oil and gas and industrial facilities where process apparatus has to be opened and closed reliably, quickly and safely.

Closures of this type are fitted to equipment that requires access to the interior for maintenance, inspection, cleaning or loading of the process medium.

Equipment that uses the closure

Bayonet end closures are fitted to the following equipment:

  • pig launcher and receiver traps
  • pipeline access manways
  • filters of various designs
  • vessels and tanks
  • loading chambers
  • autoclaves and pressure chambers

Key parameters

  • diameter — 100 mm to 1600 mm
  • working pressure — up to 32 MPa
  • working temperature — -60 °C to +250 °C
  • process medium — gas, oil, petroleum products, water, process fluids

Advantages of the bayonet end closure

Quick opening and closing

The bayonet connection is reliable, simple to operate and fast to service. Opening or closing takes under 3 minutes, which shortens maintenance downtime and improves equipment availability.

Safe operation

The design includes several levels of protection against unintended release. The purpose-designed key keeps the operator clear of the door's path while the closure is being opened.

Reliable sealing

Thanks to the pre-compression effect of the sealing collar, the closure stays tight across the entire range of operating pressures. This ensures safe and stable operation of the equipment.

Robust construction

The main load-bearing parts of the closure, including the body and the cover, are made without welding from steel forgings that have passed 100% non-destructive testing. This design increases structural strength and the reliability of the equipment under demanding operating conditions.

Easy operation and long service life

Ball bearings in the rotating and swing assemblies provide precision and easy movement of the closure's main components and extend the service life of the equipment.

Material selection to match the process medium

Depending on the properties of the process medium, the sealing collar can be made of wear-resistant polyurethane or special low-friction rubbers, which makes it possible to choose a solution for the specific operating conditions.

On-site adjustment

The design allows the fit of the cover against the body to be adjusted directly at the closure's operating site, which simplifies maintenance and setup of the equipment.

Design variants

The bayonet end closure is available in versions for horizontally and vertically oriented pipelines. This allows the equipment to be used at various production facilities and within different process systems.

Use in the oil and gas industry

Bayonet end closures are widely used at oil and gas facilities, in oil and gas transport systems, on process units and as part of pressure equipment. They provide safe access to the internal cavity of vessels and cut the time needed to service pipeline and vessel systems.
